Garden Party
July 7th, 2012 by admin
Someone was watching over us on Sunday 24th June and sending us beautiful weather for our Garden Party in the Liz Berretti Memorial Garden, Bellevale Ave, Ayr, in aid of Cancer Research UK. We were invited by Ron Berretti and his family to help organise a lovely afternoon for our charity in his stunning garden which he created with his beloved wife Liz whom he sadly lost to cancer last year.
What an event it was, we had over 400 supporters through the gate to enjoy the scenery, afternoon tea, shopping and live entertainment throughout from Ayrshire Fiddle Orchestra, Addiction and Dunaskin Doon Band in the relaxed fun atmosphere. Just a perfect day in memory of a perfect lady.
Guests were also kind enough to take part in, our raffle, buying our butterfly pin badge, writing their own message on our memory bridge and guess the amount of balloons competition, where the prize was to win a £7000 hot tub for 1 week donated by Ayrshire Log Cabins. This was won by Natalie Scobie who was only 1 away from the answer of 70 balloons which we let go into the cloudless sky after the event.
I would like to thank everyone who came along to support our event, I hope you all enjoyed it. The list of helpers is endless and Im sorry I dont mention you all by name but it was a pleasure to meet you all and have you help in each way you contributed. Our bakers were amazing, it just kept on coming, I think you must all have been up all night. Thank you also to our stall holders, to A plant, Robert Farrell, to my committee and to Rons fab family including Gillian, Claire, Tony, Bev, Caroline and of course Ron. You are an amazing man, THANK YOU!!
I presented Ron with a beautiful wooden laser engraved plaque by Doon Academy, to remember the event as a special thank you for inviting our charity and having the idea in the first place. We hope it is an event we can celebrate again next year and you bring your friends!!
I am delighted to announce we raised £3200 at this special Butterfly Event. Thank you all so much. xx Photos are in the gallery NOW.
