Woodland Bay Hotel – special 2 night package donating to Butterfly
Thursday, October 15th, 2009
Are you in need of a wee break? Will you be celebrating an anniversary, birthday or hen-weekend soon? Looking for that perfect Christmas gift? Or thinking of a suitable corporate package to thank your staff or client this festive season? If so I have the perfect get away deal for you, with money being very kindly donated by the Forbes Family to Butterfly Events, in aid of Cancer Research UK.
Woodland Bay Hotel is a treasured find on the stunning shores near Girvan on the West Coast of Scotland, with quite simpy breath taking scenery. Imagine being lulled to sleep and waking to the sight and sounds of gentle wave caressing the beach, taking part in outdoor activities which you have always dremt of, and sampling fresh, home-grown supplied morning and night. This brand new, family run, 16 room hotel offers all of this plus more, complete relaxation with a top class family service.
Fully refreshed, I am speaking from experience when my friend and I stayed recently and throughly enjoyed our weekend. We were greeted and shown to our spacious, ocean view, twin room by Michael. Our evening meal was pre-booked in the restuarant attached to the fabulous farm shop where we enjoyed a 3 course a la Carte treat using all hom-grown produce. We would recommend the fillet steaks! On the Saturday we relaxed at the local Pebbles Spa using all facilities and enjoying our spa treatments. In the afternoon we browsed the boutique shopping in the local towns and enjoyed a stroll along the beach. Ending the day with another fabulous 3 course meal, served by Patrick & Vivienne. Our Sunday breakfast was served until 11.30am giving us a long lie! Enough time to peruse the farm shop buying gifts before heading home to the husbands and kids! Only 1 complaint, we didnt book long enough, a week would have been nice, maybe the next time.
The surrounding area offers activities for everyone, young and old including rambling, shopping, fishing, golfing and horse riding. Never a dull moment along the Ayrshire Coast.
The Forbes Family of Woodland Bay Hotel , are big supporters of Butterfly Events and have kindly agreed to donate £10 for every 2 night package which is booked from now until Sunday 25th October, quoting BUTTERFLY, in conjuction with our next event ‘The Butterfly Bazaar’. If we manage to book 501 weekends they will double the donation to £10,000, which would be a massive boost to our fund-raising and for CRUK.
We need your help. Please tell everyone you know about this special offer, it is a fabulous deal, a perfect getaway for any occasion and you will be supporting Cancer Research UK at the same time.
For more information please log onto Woodland Bay website www.woodlandbayhotel.co.uk or call Gillian on 01465 710700.

Happy 60th Birthday Bill McKenzie
Monday, June 29th, 2009
I would like to say happy birthday to new supporter Bill McKenzie of ACMS Construction. Bill was 60 years young in April. Lorna surprised Bill with a card and small gift at the recent gents only evening, and unbeknown to her, Bill surprised her in return with a huge donation of £500 from his party. Bill invited his friends and relatives at his party to make a donation to our fund, instead of buying him a gift.
“I would like to thank Bill and all of this guests for thinking of us during his 60th Birthday celebrations. This was an extremely kind and generous act, especially as Bill had never met me or even been to one of my events before. This money will be added to our fund, which is making a huge difference to Cancer Research UK”

Diamond Winner – Butterfly Ball
Monday, June 29th, 2009
Lorna Dempsey of Butterfly Events celebrated recently with the winner of her Diamond Competition, Mr Bruce of Stevenson, which was promoted & very kindly donated by Drew & Caroline Birrell of Bravo Fine Jewellery, New Market Street, Ayr.
Delighted Mr Bruce guessed the exact carat weight of the diamond at the recent Butterfly Ball in aid of Cancer Research UK. And the even more delighted Mrs Bruce, excitably wears the fabulous ring which was designed and created by Drew Birrell of Bravo for the winners and is now worth over £5,000.
Mr Bruce said “I still can’t believe I won the diamond, it’s the best prize I have ever won. It has been made into a ring, which is stunning. My wife Helen is absolutely thrilled, what a gift for our 20th wedding anniversary in July. Drew at Bravo Fine Jewellers, could not have been any more helpful. We can’t wait to go back next year to the Butterfly Ball it was a fantastic evening.”

“Mr Bruce was 1 of 4 guests at the Ball who guessed the carat weight exactly, his name was chosen from the hat while the tension mounted.
This is a fabulous prize to win for only £1 per guess and I am delighted it has gone to such a lovely couple. We cant wait to see Helen at the Ball next year wearing her ‘rock’. I would like to thank Drew & Caroline Birrell of Bravo Fine Jewellers for their continued support and generosity” said Lorna Dempsey, CRUK’s Volunteer of the Year.
We ended the evening on a high with our total announcement of £16,000. The most ever raised at this event.
“It was a fabulous evening, the atmosphere was electric. I would like to thank my committee, family and friends who help out, companies and individ uals for donating the wonderful prizes and to all 600 guests who attended. Without this support Butterfly Events would not continue.” Lorna Dempsey, organiser.
This brings our total raised in 3 years to £78,000 for Cancer Research UK.
